Laika is a one of a kind bar, found in the trendy St Kilda area along Melbourne’s famous beach Esplanade. Experience a New York Style Piano Bar with a 1920s decadent interior, which creates a feel of elegance and mystique. It’s a space of exotic classicism where silver-domed ceilings support chandeliers, and a stage at the front supporting the often played grand piano. In the middle of the venue is a fireplace behind a wrought-iron grill, and opposite that is the marble bar. Then there is the secret cellar which is an underground room discovered by accident during major renovations. The red-lit stone basement is accessed via a tight spiral staircase and is ideal for small functions. Like wise the private room and priests confessional booth found towards the rear of the venue.
Other features are a small overhead office above the bar, full commercial kitchen, a small rear courtyard and a large rear accessed admin area with space for a least one car. There is a great area of footpath trading that seats at least 28 with views out across the bay.
Laika Bar has a restaurant and cafe licence until 3am with a capacity of 80, with no security restrictions. An on premises permit for 130 has just been granted by the council. There is nice long lease of 17 years made up of 2x5x5x5 with rent including GST coming in at $2500 a week. The fit out for the venue is incredible and all fixtures and fittings are included in the sale and are probably worth the sale price alone.
The present owner has been in the venue less than a year and had no intention of selling the business and so has invested a considerable amount into the business infrastructure. However, personal issues force the sale. There are books but they have not been done with a sale in mind. So the owner is only looking for offers in the region of $225,000 for this venue. This venue is now SOLD.
